MAMMA MIA!
Mamma Mia! is back and touring in the United Kingdom. Entertaining, fun and filled with dancing, the musical is based on songs from ABBA. Premiering in 1999, the musical has taken the United Kingdom by storm winning the Laurence Oliver Award for Best Performance.
Mamma Mia! will have fans dancing to all of the hits, including “Super Trouper,” “Money, Money, Money,” “Dancing Queen,” “Thank You for the Music” and countless others.
The show is the eight longest running production in the West End as of 2016. The show closed its Broadway run in 2015 ending a 14-year run. The performance’s runtime varies, but a typical show will run 2 hours and 30 minutes. There is often a 15-minute intermission during each show.
A finale and encore performance may increase the show’s time.
Lucy May Barker plays the role of Sophie Sheridan. Barker has an extensive theatre resume with roles in Spring Awakening, The Crucible, Ace of Clubs, Oklahoma! and others. She has also been in the film: The Woman in Black and has had several television roles, including roles in Doctors, Scoop! and The Culshaw & Stephenson Impressions Show.
Fia Houston-Hamilton plays the role of Ali. The Mountainview Academy of Theatre Arts graduate has a massive stage presence that is “larger than life.” She embodies her role as Ali and has experience in several big-name productions, including Town is Dead! and Ghost the Musical.
Blaise Colangelo plays the role of Lisa. Colangelo trained at the Reynolds Performing Arts in Dartford which led her to land roles in some of the world’s biggest theatre productions. She has been the Teen Fiona in Shrek the Musical. She has also performed in Peter Pan, Jack and the Beanstalk, Billy Elliot and Les Misérables.
Emma Clifford takes on the role of Tanya. Clifford is world-known for her theatre performances. She has been in several large performances, including West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Batman Live, Chicago and Follies.
The story takes place on a Greek island revolving around the night before a wedding. A girl is trying to find out her father’s true identity, and the quest leads to more questions than answers. She meets three men that her mother knew in the past in what is best described as a heart-warming tale of love and friendship.
The show will be in Sheffield, Glasgow and Oxford with additional shows in other cities.
Mamma Mia!’s cast, costumes and music are a must-see for a night of laughs and fun.
